Congratulations to 2013 Stephen H. Goldman, M.D. Keystone Award Recipients James Fiorica, MD, of Sarasota Memorial’s First Physicians Group, and Marie Borsellino, RN BSN OCN CBPN-C, breast health navigator for SMH.
The Keystone Award is the highest honor given by the Center for Building Hope and recognizes medical professionals and lay people who have shown extraordinary service and commitment to the cancer community. The awards were presented during the recent “Celebration of Hope” event.
Dr. Fiorica leads the Women’s Cancer Care program at Sarasota Memorial and is a nationally recognized gynecologic surgeon dedicated to investigative research and effective treatments for gynecologic cancer.
Marie guides women from a cancer diagnosis through treatment and reconstruction, serving as a devoted and knowledgeable patient advocate. Her continual outreach efforts help educate women about breast health and breast cancer with a particular focus on the uninsured.
Also winning a Keystone Award was Angela Long, a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in 2004 as a young mother of two children. Thankful for a second chance, Angela is a fund-raiser for nonprofits while educating family, friends and acquaintances on the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection.
Center for Building Hope offers free information, programs and services to cancer patients, caregivers and family members, while connecting them with others who are undergoing a similar experience. For more information: www.centerforbuildinghope.org
