Located on the top floor of SMH’s Courtyard Tower, our 36-bed Orthopedics Unit offers spacious private rooms, with a view of the city and Sarasota Bay, along with many of the comforts of home, including flat-screen TVs, free wireless Internet and a private alcove for overnight guests.

Orthopedics Care Team

Led by Medical Director and Orthopedic Surgeon Edward Stolarksi, MD, the multidisciplinary Ortho team includes surgeons nationally recognized for their expertise in joint replacements, complex joint revisions and minimally invasive surgeries for hips, knees, spines, shoulders and other joints. The team is among the most experienced in Florida, collectively performing more than 4,500 Orthopedic and Neurosurgical procedures annually and providing specialized rehabilitation to more than 10,000 people each year.

Education & Support

Sarasota Memorial offers pre-surgery education for patients undergoing spine surgery or joint surgery. The pre-operative classes explain what to expect before, during and after surgery.

Spine Pre-surgery Classes are offered from 9 to 11 am each Thursday at the main campus (community classroom, second floor near C elevators). No reservations are necessary. For more information, call 941-917-7668 or click here for an informational flyer.  

Total Joint Pre-surgery Classes (for hip, knee or shoulder surgery) are held from 9 to 11 am each Monday and Wednesday in two locations.
