Joseph J. DeVirgilio, Jr., TreasurerJoseph J. DeVirgilio Jr., Chair

Joseph DeVirgilio is president of Suncoast Management Consultants and a senior consultant with River Consulting Group. Previously, he held a series of executive positions with the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation in Poughkeepsie, NY. He also served for 12 years on a hospital board and foundation in Poughkeepsie before retiring in 2010 and relocating to Venice, FL. He is currently a volunteer for the AARP, helping seniors in Venice with their taxes.

In addition, he has been a member and leader on numerous boards of community and business organizations. Mr. DeVirgilio has received several honors for his service, including the Healthcare Trustees of New York State Award, the Poughkeepsie Area Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and the Hospice Community Service Award. He received his Bachelor’s of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and his Master's in Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

 

William NoonanWilliam Noonan, First Vice Chair

During his 30-plus years with IBM, Mr. Noonan served in a number of senior executive roles, including global sales operations manager and program manager for incentive planning. In 2004, he joined Novell, a global enterprise software company, ultimately serving as senior director for global field operations. His many areas of expertise include business and financial management, HR and executive management, process design, implementation and improvement, and sales and marketing.  

Before his appointment to the Central District Seat, Mr. Noonan served as a community representative on the Hospital Board's Finance Committee. Mr. Noonan is a graduate of Villanova University in Pennsylvania with a degree in electrical engineering. In Sarasota, he has served as president of the Deer Creek Community Association's Board of Directors and as community representative on the Palmer Ranch Master Association. He also is a ministry volunteer at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church.

 

James Meister, Assistant SecretaryJames Meister, Second Vice Chair

A resident of Sarasota for the past 17 years, Jim Meister is a Licensed Real Estate Associate with Coldwell Banker in Sarasota. A native of New Jersey, he served in top administrative and executive positions with Kings Super Markets in New Jersey, a $400 million dollar food retailer, including nine years as president and CEO.

Mr. Meister has held several leadership roles in health care governance, including terms as vice chairman of the board of Atlantic Health Systems, a large nonprofit health system with locations in northern and central New Jersey, and chairman of the board of Mountainside Hospital, a community-based hospital in Montclair, New Jersey.

Before his appointment to the Sarasota County Public Hospital Board’s Northern District, Seat 1, Mr. Meister served as a community member on the board’s Audit and Mission and Planning Committees. He also is a member of the Finance/Audit Committee of the Senior Friendship Centers, and has served on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, trade associations and publicly traded companies over the years.

 

Sharon Wetzler DePetersSharon Wetzler DePeters, Treasurer

Sharon Wetzler DePeters is an ARNP and a longtime nursing educator and leader. She recently retired after 12 years as an Associate Professor at the State College of Florida Manatee – Sarasota in the Associate Science in Nursing Program. Currently working as a research coordinator at the Cardiovascular Center of Sarasota, she also has been a long-time volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corps of Sarasota. She spent 21 years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, retiring as Major, and was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, where she served in the OR, Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit and ICU.  She also served in the Surgical ICU at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo, N.Y. She received her Bachelor of Nursing and Master of Nursing degrees at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

 

Tramm Hudson, MemberTramm Hudson, Secretary

Tramm Hudson is a retired Sarasota banker, U.S. Army officer and community leader who has spent almost 30 years sharing his executive expertise in finance, economic development and strategic planning with a number of organizations in the Sarasota-Manatee region. 

Mr. Hudson has served as chairman of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, trustee of Manatee Community College, chairman of the Out-of-Door Academy, chairman of Committee of 100, chairman of The Glenridge at Palmer Ranch retirement community, and member of the boards of United Way and Sarasota Family YMCA. He also was chairman of the Republican Party of Sarasota County. In 2005, he served as chairman of Workforce Florida.

Mr. Hudson graduated from Vanderbilt University as a distinguished military graduate. He served as a Cavalry officer in Germany and continued in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He earned his MBA from Emory University.

 

Susan TuckerSusan Tucker, Assistant Secretary

Susan Tucker is an accomplished medical professional with years of experience in the Sarasota community. Since 2008, she has worked as an RN, LPN and nurse on call. She received her RN degree from Edison State College in Fort Myers and has interned with Lee Memorial's Trauma Center. She currently serves as an RN for Southwest Florida Home Care and is enrolled in the Pre-Med program at Florida Southwestern State College & FGCU.

 

 

Darryl W. Henry, Assistant TreasurerDarryl W. Henry, Assistant Treasurer

Term Ends: 2018 

Darryl Henry served as CEO for International Interoperability Initiatives, Inc., before retiring in 2006. From 1979 to 2002, he was a program director at the U.S. Department of Defense, serving as Director of the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Program, Director of the Joint Warrior Interoperability Program and Chief Hardware Engineer of Milnet (forerunner of Internet). Mr. Henry received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. He serves on the Executive Board and Bylaws Committee of the Republican Club of South Sarasota County and participates in the Keep Sarasota Beautiful road cleanup crew. Mr. Henry also serves as a greeter and nursery attendant for the Living Waters Lutheran Church.

 

Richard Rehmeyer, MD, Member
Region: Northern District - Seat 2
Term Ends: 2018

Dr. Rehmeyer is a board-certified ENT-otolaryngologist who has been practicing in Sarasota for over 40 years. He has held many leadership roles in the medical community, including serving as Sarasota Memorial's chief of staff, president of the Sarasota County Medical Society and delegate to the Florida Medical Association. He has served on the local boards of the American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Clubs, Police Athletic League, United Way and Salvation Army. He also was president of the Sarasota Rotary Club, governor of Rotary's regional district and named Rotarian of the Year. In 2008, he earned President George W. Bush's "Call to Service" Award. 

Dr. Rehmeyer received his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. He completed his internship at Lankenau Hospital and his residency in general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, both in Philadelphia, Pa., and his residency in otolaryngology (ENT) at the University of Illinois. He served as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1965.

An employee of AT&T's Engineering Department for 31 years, Mr. Carter served as project manager, coordinating all aspects of construction for the corporation's network facilities for the state of Virginia and working as a liaison between the company and vendors, consultants and project personnel. Currently the owner/operator of a general home repair business, Mr. Carter also served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
