Lung Cancer Care Team
At Sarasota Memorial Cancer Institute, each patient is matched with a hand-picked team of specialists to leverage the full extent of the care providers’ experience and expertise in diagnosing and treating even the most challenging cancers. Patient care teams and care plans are specifically tailored to fit the needs, goals and case details of each patient.
Sarasota Memorial’s lung cancer care teams can include critical care pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, diagnostic and interventional radiologists, medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, oncology nurses, an oncology patient navigator, palliative medicine specialists and an oncology-certified social worker. Our board-certified physicians offer a personalized approach to the safest, least invasive and most effective treatments available.
Thoracic Oncology Surgeons
Our thoracic surgery specialists bring more than 45 years of combined experience and expertise to Sarasota Memorial’s Cancer Institute.
Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeon Paul Vesco, MD, specializes in minimally invasive and robot-assisted thoracic surgery for benign or cancerous conditions of the lung, chest and esophagus. Prior to joining Sarasota Memorial in 2010, Dr. Vesco was among a handful of cardiac and thoracic surgeons using the nation’s earliest robot-assisted technologies. His experience and skills further strengthen and diversify the range of robotic and minimally invasive thoracic and esophageal surgery available to our patients.
The Sarasota Memorial lung cancer care team collaborates with primary care physicians, pulmonologists and oncologists throughout the nation to ensure our patients have access to the most innovative and successful treatments available.
