Sarasota County’s largest employer and only community-owned health system, SMH also ranked #28 nationally across all industry employers and #8 among U.S. healthcare employers in Forbes’ “America’s Best Employers for Women 2026” released last week.

We are pleased to announce that U.S. News & World Report has once again recognized Sarasota  Memorial Hospital as one of Florida’s best and the #1 hospital in the Sarasota-Manatee metropolitan area. SMH’s flagship Sarasota campus made the list for earning “high performing” ratings across a range of complex conditions and procedures, including rehabilitation, cancer, cardiac, orthopedic and stroke care, while SMH-Venice was spotlighted as a high performer for excellence in cardiac, orthopedic and diabetes care.

A Decade of Lifesaving Care: Sarasota Memorial Trauma Center Celebrates 10 Years of Service to the Community

Sarasota County’s only trauma center has treated nearly 50,000 patients since opening

Sarasota Memorial is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Level II Trauma Center, providing lifesaving care for patients throughout the county and region. Since opening in May 2015 and receiving full state designation in July 2016, the SMH trauma team has treated 47,735 injured patients, including 22,871 trauma team activations to address the most critically injured patients transported by emergency medical teams to the nearest trauma center.
