Nitrous Oxide for Pain Relief in Labor

Nitrous Oxide is a gas inhaled for pain relief. During labor, a mixture of 50-percent Nitrous gas and 50-percent oxygen is inhaled through a face mask held by the laboring mom. The pain might still exist, but the gas creates a feeling of “I don’t care about the pain.” Nitrous has been widely used in Canada and Europe for comfort in labor.
