New OB/GYN Joins SMH’s First Physicians Group

SARASOTA, Fla. (October 24, 2018) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System recently welcomed a new OB/GYN to its First Physicians Group (FPG) network and community.

Sarah Holdt Somer, MD, joined FPG’s Obstetrics and Gynecology practice with Drs. Michael Finazzo and Maureen Maguire on Sept. 24. Dr. Holdt Somer earned her medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in Omaha, Neb., and completed an OB/GYN residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa.  

Dr. Holdt Somer is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Association. An advocate for global health, she has participated in surgical mission trips to Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti, to help the medically underserved. Her professional interests include promoting vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).

She provides a full spectrum of OB and gynecological care for patients at the practice’s main office in the Waldemere Medical Plaza, 1921 Waldemere St., Ste. 307, Sarasota, as well as its satellite office in the Sarasota Memorial Health Care Center at Blackburn Point, 929 S.
