SMH One of Nation’s Highest Rated Hospitals

The federal government released new report cards for the nation’s hospitals this week, and Sarasota Memorial is the only hospital in the region to receive the top 5-star quality rating for overall performance. Just 45 hospitals have earned the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ highest 5-Star rating for overall quality and safety since its inception.

SMH Celebrates with 1,000th TAVR Patient

SMH celebrates wtih the 1,000th patient to have a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. More than 90 percent of SMH’s patients undergo TAVR under conscious sedation and do not require an ICU stay. A few hours after his procedure, “Mr. 1,000th” Danny Hierholzer was joking and looking forward to going home the next day.

Sarasota Memorial Hospital celebrated the start of a new decade, welcoming the first baby of the 2020 New Year a mere second after midnight! A’Lani Rock was born at 12:00:01 am on Jan. 1 to parents Geurtsie and D'Marus Rock, as the ball was dropping in New York’s Times Square.
