SMH-Venice Opens Emergency Room Expansion

On Monday, SMH-Venice opened its newly expanded Emergency Room - more than doubling the hospital’s capacity to provide emergency care in a region deeply impacted by the closure of two area hospitals – ShorePoint Health Venice in 2022 and ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda in 2024.

In The Leapfrog Group’s hospital safety report cards released today, both Sarasota Memorial Hospital campuses received top marks for patient safety. SMH-Sarasota continued the straight “A” streak it has held since 2016, and SMH-Venice earned an A on its very first report card.

SMH-Venice New Patient Care Tower Opens, Easing Capacity Constraints

Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice has opened 68 new private patient suites today, with an additional 34 private suites scheduled to open this fall. The expansion is in response to the high demand for medical services in the community.
