SARASOTA, Fla. (Feb. 10, 2026) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System was recognized among “America’s Best Large Employers” in an annual ranking released by Forbes today.
Compiled in partnership with market research firm Statista, Forbes surveys and ranks standout organizations that prioritize employee well-being, job satisfaction, and workplace culture. “America’s Best Large Employers 2026” awards the top 700 U.S. companies to work for based on independent survey results from more than 218,000 U.S. employees.
“Top ranked organizations are leading in areas such as salary, working conditions, professional growth and other aspects essential for making a great workplace,” Forbes noted.
To be eligible in the “Large Employers” category, employers had to have at least 5,000 employees. Survey participants (who remained anonymous so that they could answer freely) were asked if they would recommend their employer to others and to rate it based on a range of criteria, including compensation packages, work flexibility, training opportunities and leadership programs.
With nearly 11,000 employees and a growing network of hospitals, specialty care centers, and outpatient services, Sarasota Memorial is the region’s largest employer. The latest recognition once again highlights SMH’s commitment to fostering a positive and sustainable workplace and culture. In 2025, SMH was listed among Forbes’ “Best Employers for Women,” “Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals,” and “Best Employers by State.”
Now in its 11th edition, the “America's Best Employers” ranking was created to recognize companies creating workplaces where employees can thrive. The 1,200 organizations with the highest scores landed on one of Forbes’ two final lists—500 companies on America’s Best Midsize Employers 2026, and 700 organizations on America’s Best Large Employers 2026. As with all Forbes lists, companies pay no fee to participate or be selected. For more information, visit: www.forbes.com/lists/best-large-employers/
