Neurology Specialists Join First Physicians Group

SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming 2 neurology specialists to its First Physicians Group (FPG) network and community this month. 

Board certified in neurology, Joshua Pankratz, MD, specializes in general neurology and epilepsy. He utilizes advanced diagnostics, such as routine and continuous electroencephalogram (EEG) and has experience with medically intractable (drug-resistant) epilepsy. His treatment options include neurostimulation and minimally invasive interventions. Dr. Pankratz comes to the Sarasota community from Wisconsin. In 2014, he earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. At the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, he completed his internship, neurology residency and back-to-back fellowships — one in neurophysiology and one in epilepsy. 

Zsofia Szabo, MD, is board certified in neurology and fellowship trained in neurophysiology. She specializes in general neurology and neuromuscular disease. Dr. Szabo received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in West Indies. She completed her internship at the Jacobi Medical Center in The Bronx, N.Y., before completing her neurology residency and her neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Dr. Szabo brings expertise with a variety of diagnostic tools, including conducting and interpreting EMG/nerve conduction studies, routine and continuous EEGs and interventions that include nerve blocks and Botox injections for migraines and dystonia.
