About Sarasota Memorial Infusion
If you're battling cancer, Crohn’s disease or some other serious illness that requires regular treatments, you’ll find Sarasota Memorial Infusion a comfortable, pleasant and highly professional environment in which to receive care.
We understand that different people have different needs while undergoing treatment. Our patient rooms are bright, with televisions available so patients can pass the time during their treatment. We provide many of the treatments in suites with recliners that provide a comfortable environment where patients can talk and share coping strategies.
One of our main focuses at the Sarasota Memorial Infusion is patient education. We believe that the more you know about your conditions and the available treatments, the more empowered you’ll be to truly participate in your own care and recovery. You’ll also find it an excellent resource for information about your prescribed medications and therapies.
Our team members come from a variety of disciplines including Oncology, Women's Services, and Surgical Recovery. All are highly trained and efficient professionals who understand the complexities of your condition and treatments. We provide the compassion and support needed to help your healing process.
We also work closely with your physician to coordinate care plans and ensure you make your appointments as regularly as possible. We make every effort to accommodate treatment by preparing for visits in advance. We understand you want to come in, be treated and leave as quickly as possible.
Your safety and comfort are paramount. As a result, we have rigorous safety protocols in place for everything from blood type matches to the types of devices used to deliver medication. Similarly, we understand how taxing many of these treatments can be and do whatever we can to ensure your comfort. It's in this type of environment that the following treatments are delivered:
Crohn's Disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancer are among the conditions we treat using this new type of treatment. Biotherapies administered here include infusions and injections.
The need for transfusion of blood products can be unexpected. We work with you, your physician, and the local bloodbank to best meet your needs. Our experienced staff monitors you during your treatment to help ensure the infusion progresses in a safe, timely manner.
For safety reasons, we only administer cancer medications when it’s been determined your condition is stable. We understand undergoing chemo can be a difficult challenge. Therefore we strive to make you comfortable in the recliner chairs with pillows and blankets.
The need for fluids may be the result of excessive vomiting, diarrhea or an inability to eat or drink after chemotherapy, so when necessary we hydrate patients with intravenous infusions.
Iron deficiency, chemotherapy, anemia, and multiple sclerosis are among the conditions for which patients visit the Day Treatment Center to safely and comfortably receive their "shots".
At times infections need to be treated with antibiotic infusions. We work with you to schedule treatment times that meet both your treatment and personal needs. For example, treatments needed twice a day can be scheduled in the morning and evening, allowing you to meet your professional and personal commitments during the day.
Venous Access Procedures
Venous access devices are implanted under the skin so that you don't have to endure repeated needle sticks if your treatment requires frequent access to your veins. And we have wide range of devices to meet your specific needs and comfort level.
