Designated Stroke Center
If you live in North Port or surrounding communities, treat stroke like the emergency it is and call 911 immediately. Based on your condition, emergency rescue workers will take you to the nearest hospital equipped to treat you.

For many, that will be Sarasota Memorial’s freestanding ER off Toledo Blade Blvd. On Nov. 1, 2011, the North Port ER was officially recognized by the Joint Commission for offering the same caliber of care and protocols as Sarasota Memorial’s main campus ER  – the only state-designated Comprehensive Stroke Center between Tampa/St. Petersburg and Naples.
