Genitourinary Cancers

Oncology specialists at Sarasota Memorial's Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute screen for, diagnose and treat a range of genitourinary (GU) cancers, including cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, testicles and penis.

Our Urology Team

Under the leadership of robotic surgery specialist and Medical Director Robert Carey, MD, PhD, the multidisciplinary urology team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Sarasota Campus includes longtime local urologist Kenneth Bregg, MD, and surgeon Daniel Kaplon, MD, who specializes in da Vinci Robot-assisted surgical approaches for urologic cancers. The team has been nationally recognized for both its excellence and innovation in advanced surgical techniques.

Honors & Awards

SMH-Sarasota was the first Florida hospital to be designated as a Robotic Training Epicenter for urology-led gynecologic surgery, in recognition of the program’s experience and excellence. As a training epicenter, Sarasota Memorial hosts surgeons from across the nation as they study specialized techniques using the da Vinci surgical robot.
