SARASOTA (Nov. 8, 2019) — “Hope” was the enduring message at our “Sign the Wall” event held yesterday on the construction site of the Sarasota Memorial Radiation Oncology Center (5370 University Pkwy., Sarasota).

Organizers invited event guests — more than 60 local cancer patients, physicians, hospital leadership and staff, oncology team members, project contractors and other community members — to inscribe their own messages of hope on the walls of what will be the center’s radiation vault. Sign the Wall cancer event

The heartfelt notes — some dedicated to the cancer patients that the center will serve and others written in memory of loved ones who’ve fought cancer— included empowering messages of strength, healing and support. As vital to the center’s creation as the concrete and framework, the personal inscriptions — and the intentions behind them — lay the true foundation of the cancer program, centered around each patient and the community it cares for.

When its doors open in summer 2020, the center will offer advanced radiation therapy and treatment technology, an important part of the Sarasota Memorial Cancer Institute’s full continuum of cancer services
