PreventT2 Diabetes Prevention Program
Are you older than 45? Overweight? Have a family history of Type 2 diabetes, or had diabetes while you were pregnant? Then you are at higher risk of developing prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes.
One out of three American adults has prediabetes. Without weight loss or increased physical activity, many prediabetics will develop Type 2 diabetes, which can lead to heart attack; stroke; blindness; kidney failure; or loss of toes, feet or legs.
Sarasota Memorial Diabetes Treatment Services’ PreventT2 Program helps those at risk of developing prediabetes and Type 2 diabetes change their lifestyle habits for a more healthy future. The program arms participants with the tools and support they need to make lasting lifestyle changes in order to prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes.

Participants will meet weekly for four months of interactive learning, followed by two months of bi-weekly support meetings and then six months of monthly support meetings to help them stay on track with fitness, healthy eating and weight loss goals.
Program participants also enjoy four months of unlimited access to HealthFit, Sarasota Memorial’s medically integrated fitness center on Clark Road, including its dozens of weekly group-exercise classes, two indoor pools, sports courts and state-of-the-art fitness equipment.
The full 12-month program costs $299, which will NOT be billed to insurance. Physician referral is not required.
