Mammography

An annual mammogram is one of the most effective ways to catch breast cancer early. Starting at age 40, women should have a screening mammogram and a clinical breast exam every year.

Known as breast tomosynthesis, 3D mammography has shown promise as a major advance over digital mammography, with higher cancer detection rates and fewer patients needing to be recalled for additional testing. While 3D mammography benefits all screening and diagnostic mammography patients, it is especially valuable for women receiving a baseline screening, those who have dense breast tissue and those with a personal history of breast cancer.

Sarasota Memorial offers mammograms at seven convenient locations. To schedule an appointment, please get a referral from your primary care physician and call 941-917-7322.
