Physicians, physician assistants and nurses from Sarasota Memorial’s emergency and urgent care centers will staff medical tents in key locations during three days of the annual Grand Prix Festival. The health system’s medical team will provide first-aid services to festival-goers who become injured or ill during the Grand Prix Fan Fest and boat races June 30-July 2.
The SMH team is equipped to handle minor injuries and ailments onsite, and to provide initial treatment for those suffering from common heat-related illnesses, such as dehydration, heat exhaustion and sunburns. Sarasota County EMT and paramedics will be on hand to transport people by ambulance to a local hospital if emergency care is needed.
The SMH medical tents will be set up for all three days of Fan Fest at the Van Wezel, as well as at Lido Beach during the boat races on Saturday and Sunday, providing care during the following times:
- Friday, June 30
Grand Prix Dry Pit Area, Van Wezel Parking Lot, noon-5 pm
- Saturday, July 1
Grand Prix Fan Fest, Van Wezel Parking Lot, 10 am-6 pm AND Lido Beach, 9 am-4 pm
- Sunday, July 2
Grand Prix Fan Fest, Van Wezel Parking Lot AND Lido Beach, 10 am-5 pm
Proceeds from this event help support five non-profit agencies in the community that serve clients with special needs: Loveland Village, Sarasota County Special Olympics, Children First, The Haven, and Florida Center for Early Childhood.
