OB Tour

An opportunity for you to see, first-hand, our Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby Units and to learn what makes SMH a great place to have your baby. Registration is required and limited to two people per registration. Due to our infection control policy, no children under 13 are permitted on the patient units for this tour.

 

NOTE: This same OB Tour is included in all Prepared Childbirth classes.

Infant Allergies and Food Sensitivities

Only 2 or 3 out of 100 exclusively breast fed babies will exhibit an allergic reaction to foods, and that is most often to the cow’s milk in the mother’s diet. My sister breastfed her twins but noticed an immediate and significant reaction when she supplemented her son with formula. He broke out in a severe rash and hives, screamed with stomach cramps and after a trip to the ER and following up with her pediatrician and an allergist; she excluded all dairy from her diet.

Boating Safety This Summer

The usual boating list… Sun screen that is appropriate for your child’s age; Paba and Deet Free for infants 6 months-1year old. Reapply every 2 hours.  Children <6 months of age should not wear sunscreen, but instead wear protective clothing and be kept in the shade.   All children should wear eye protection.  Avoid the times 10am-4pm when the UV rays are the strongest.
