Geraldine's Story

My husband and I had just arrived in Sarasota the first day of our six-week vacation from Ontario when I noticed my right hand was very tender down one side. The pain was getting worse and I thought, given we had extended medical coverage while we were away, I would get the matter checked out. I didn't consider the matter an emergency but went to your ER and was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of your staff and the manner in which they dealt with me. They informed me I had been bitten by an insect and an infection had started. I was provided with a prescription for an antibiotic. This all happened within half an hour of my arrival at your hospital. Such a minor emergency would have caused me to wait many hours for such treatment at one of our hospitals in Ontario. I had a lengthy chat with a couple of your staff members in your ER and learned what the governor of your state is planning on doing with your hospital and I, as a visitor, would like to say why fix something that isn't broken? You offer a fabulous service, your staff are excellent and I was made to feel like I was doing the correct thing by visiting your hospital. Who could even consider asking for more.
