Radiology Nursing Unit
Nurses in
the Radiology department at SMH play a vital supporting role
throughout the entire department from Interventional Radiology, CT,
Ultrasound, MRI, and Diagnostics.
The department has trained RN's that have a vast amount of
nursing background and experience.
Each one of our nurses brings a wealth of knowledge that is
important to the level of quality care and safe nursing practice,
which is provided to all patients that enter the SMH Radiology
Department. Our nurses
specialize in Radiology procedures and are trained in advanced care
and treatment.
The
Radiology team maintains a close working relationship with the
radiologist and technologist, helping to coordinate patient care
responsibilities and invasive procedures.
Our department has a nursing unit that will accommodate 18
patients. If you are coming in for a short-stay invasive procedure, you
will be admitted to the unit, have your pre-procedure work-up
completed, then recover in the unit until time of discharge.
We have a state-of-the-art nursing facility for your pre and
post procedure admit and recovery.
Some of the types of procedures where you will be admitted to
the radiology nursing unit include: CT biopsy or drainage, Arteriogram,
Percutaneous nephrostomy, Vertebroplasty, Mylogram, Lumbar puncture.
The length of stay post procedure varies but is generally 4-6
hours after which you will need another person to drive you home.
