What is a Bone Densitometry test?
Bone Densitometry testing is the most accurate way to measure the density of your bones. The test is simple, safe, painless and noninvasive. The test is fast and convenient-you don't even need to undress in most cases.
Osteoporosis Facts: Osteoporosis is a disease that gradually weakens bones, so they become fragile and more likely to break. Women past menopause are at increased risk for osteoporosis. Bone Densitometry can help diagnose bone loss at an early stage.
What can I expect during my Bone Densitometry test?
The exam will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You will be lying down on a cushioned table and positioned by the technologist. The areas that are normally measured are the Lumbar Spine (lower back) and hip.
