Target Audience
Patient Safety and
Medical Errors is an online course for health care professionals,
particularly physicians, physician assistants, and nurses licensed in
Florida.
Objectives
-
Meet the
requirements set forth by Florida Statute 456.013 (7);
-
Recognize common
performance and diagnostic errors;

Describe the
elements of a root cause analysis as a mechanism for preventing medical
errors; and
-
Identify risk
management measures designed to enhance patient safety.
Participants will be
given the opportunity to evaluate the course and to comment on how they plan
to incorporate suggested strategies into their practice.
Requirements for Course
Completion
Participants will listen
to the online seminar, review associated graphics and text, and complete a
post-test and course evaluation. Participants must correctly answer at
least 70% of the test questions to receive credit. If a grade of at least
70% is not achieved, this course and test may be repeated one time only.
