The 8th Annual Physicians Golf Tournament, held at The Founders Club on May 8, 2009, netted more than $40,000 to benefit the Physicians Endowment for staff education. The sold-out tournament was chaired by G. Duncan Finlay, M.D., and Douglas MacKenzie.
This year’s Key to the Cure event, co-chaired by Susan Jones, Sally Schule and Kyla Weiner, will begin with a kickoff party at Saks Fifth Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009. A percentage of the weekend’s sales from this annual event, sponsored by Saks Fifth Avenue, will benefit the Healthcare Foundation for women’s cancer programs at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. Proceeds from last year’s event funded a cancer research program within the hospital’s Institute for Cancer Care. To date, Key to the Cure has raised more than $450,000 to further breast, ovarian, uterine and cervical cancer research and related projects locally.
