ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
and Board of Trustees

Three Decades of Advancement
1976 - 2007

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. is an independent not-for-profit organization.  While primarily supporting Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, the Healthcare Foundation also awards grants to other area not-for-profit organizations to meet the community’s changing healthcare needs.

Since 1976, the Healthcare Foundation has granted $32 million to help create state-of-the-art research and life-saving programs for the Sarasota community.  More recently, our philanthropy is supporting breast health through the funding of digital mammography units.  The Foundation has purchased equipment to detect lung and breast cancer at the earliest stages.  We’ve ensured that each baby born at Sarasota Memorial Hospital receives a hearing assessment.  And, we have funded a mobile intensive care transport unit for the Sarasota Memorial Heart Institute.  For more than a quarter of a century, we’ve been touching lives in sometimes small and sometimes very significant ways—and we plan to continue.

~MISSION STATEMENT~

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to improve the delivery of healthcare for the Sarasota area through the acquisition and utilization of philanthropic funds.

~VISION STATEMENT~

The Healthcare Foundation will become the demonstrated leader in strategically focused fund raising efforts.  This will be accomplished through creative and innovative efforts that will become the hallmarks of the Foundation.
