As with all of Sarasota Memorial's urgent care centers, on-site physicians provide immediate care for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries, such as fractures, sprains, lacerations and burns, as well as the common cold, sore throats, flu, ear infections, bronchitis and urinary problems.
Separate but in the same facility, an outpatient imaging center and lab is also located in the first floor of the building, offering a comprehensive array of Sarasota Memorial outpatient laboratory, including mammograms, CT, X-ray, bone density, blood draws and other laboratory testing services.
The second floor is dedicated to the new family medicine practice of Veronica Voloshinov, MD, and Christopher Jefferson, MD. Both physicians are employed by Sarasota Memorial's First Physicians Group (FPG), and recently relocated from FPG’s other Venice location (Lakeside Medical). Additional specialists are expected to move into the second floor later this year.
“As a public hospital, Sarasota Memorial is accountable to and committed to serving residents throughout the county – 44 percent of Sarasota County's residents live south of Osprey – and more than 18,000 patients cared for by our First Physicians Group primary care physicians live in South County. Our new urgent care and health care center will help fill a gap in the network of outpatient care we provide in that region,” said David Verinder, Chief Operating Officer at Sarasota Memorial.
