SARASOTA, Fla. – (Oct. 1, 2013) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System welcomed a new family practice physician into its First Physician Group (FPG) network. On Oct. 1, Janet Lewis, MD, began accepting new patients at FPG’s Internal Medicine and Pediatrics office in North Port, 2345 Bobcat Village Center Road, Suite 202, where she will join family medicine physician Elizabeth Cefalu, MD.
The North Port practice is part of First Physicians Group – a network of more than 72 primary and specialty care physicians employed by Sarasota Memorial to help fill the gaps caused by a shortage of primary care physicians in the region. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Lewis has worked as family medicine specialist since 1989. She came to Sarasota from Lewisburg, PA, where she spent 21 years as a practicing physician with the Geisinger Medical Group in Lewisburg. Previously, she worked for several years at the Bertie County Rural Health Association in Windsor and Ahoskie, NC. She earned her medical degree at Pennsylvania State University, Hershey, PA, and completed her residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.
