Sarasota Memorial CEO Gwen MacKenzie has been tapped to serve on Governor-Elect Rick Scott's Health and Human Services Transition Team. She will continue to serve as Sarasota Memorial's CEO while providing input on health issues to Governor-Elect Scott, who takes office Jan. 4, 2011. While her role at Sarasota Memorial will not change, MacKenzie will have a unique opportunity to share her experience and expertise while taking part in important discussions on health care issues that will impact our state and community.
I'm honored to accept this responsibility and lend a hand to our new governor's team, MacKenzie said. One of the priorities of the transition team is to transform the delivery of health services and better meet the needs of those most vulnerable in our state. As one of the state and nation¹s largest public hospitals, we share that mission and look forward to positive change.
Each transition team will engage in critical fact-finding across state agencies and help assess the status of each in an effort to facilitate an orderly transition. This will include benchmarking best practices from other states and the private sector, reviewing short- and long-term issues, highlighting departmental budget summaries and legislative priorities, identifying opportunities for cost-savings and interviewing stakeholders.
