The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) report has identified Sarasota Memorial's First Physicians Group as a “better performer” because of the medical practice's superior operational performance compared with similar practices nationwide.
The MGMA report, a benchmarking standard among medical groups for more than a decade, was produced using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey: 2012 Report Based on 2011 Data, and from questionnaires. The report profiles practices that have shown success in one or more areas of operation related to financial management and customer service.
Sarasota Memorial’s First Physicians Group was recognized for both its finances and its customer service, earning distinction as a better performer in the categories of patient satisfaction as well as cost manage-ment/profitability. First Physicians Group has received MGMA recognition for its superior performance for seven of the last eight years. The medical group includes 43 physicians and nine physicians’ assistants/ARNPs in 12 locations.
“Our physicians, staff and leaders continue to be committed to administrative performance and how it positively affects the patients we serve,” said First Physicians Chief Operating Officer Ilene Gilbert, who also was nationally featured on MGMA’s “Practice Leader Spotlight” page on Facebook.
The MGMA distinction is First Physicians Group’s most recent national recognition. During the last several years, the group also has ranked in the top 10 percent of the nation's practice groups for patient satisfaction, according to Press Ganey customer surveys.
