SARASOTA – For the 15th consecutive year, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System was named the first choice for health care in the region, earning a Consumer Choice Award for the Sarasota-Bradenton-Venice metropolitan area from the National Research Corporation.
The award for 2012-2013 identifies hospitals that health care consumers have chosen as having the best quality, best doctors/nurses and image ratings in more than 300 markets throughout the nation. Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), as defined by the US Census Bureau. The study surveyed more than 250,000 households representing more than 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia.
"We are honored that so many community members named Sarasota Memorial their hospital of choice,” said Sarasota Memorial CEO Gwen MacKenzie. "Winning this award for 15 straight years is a tribute to staff's successful efforts to provide the highest quality, most accessible care throughout the region.”
The National Research Corporation – an independent health care performance measurement company based in Lincoln, Neb – annually provides Consumer Choice Awards for the most-preferred hospitals in major U.S. markets.
