Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Expand Contract Agreement

SARASOTA, Fla. – Sept. 19, 2011 – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) have expanded their insurance agreement, making Sarasota Memorial’s three urgent care centers an in-network option for BCBSF members, effective Sept. 15, 2011.

The expanded agreement builds off the existing inpatient, outpatient and physician services that Sarasota Memorial has been providing to BCBSF members living in Sarasota and the surrounding region for almost 20 years. BCBSF serves more than serve more 44,000 members in Sarasota County.

“This agreement adds a valuable new service for Blue Cross and Blue Shield members who want to avoid the higher cost of an emergency room by seeking care at one of Sarasota Memorial’s three urgent care centers,” said Sarasota Memorial Chief Financial Officer William Woeltjen.

With the expanded relationship, the following networks and products are now included in the renewal agreement:

A separate agreement provides coverage to Sarasota Memorial’s physician network, First Physicians Group.
