Sarasota, FL -- Sarasota Memorial Health Care System was recently recognized as a top-ranked Community Value Provider by Cleverley + Associates, a leading health care consulting firm.
The annual study measures the value that a hospital provides to its community by examining four key performance areas:
-- Financial viability and plant reinvestment
-- Hospital cost structure
-- Hospital charge structure
-- Hospital quality performance
“Fundamentally, the Community Value Index suggests that a hospital provides value to the community when it is financially viable, is appropriately reinvesting back into the facility, maintains a low cost structure, has reasonable charges, and provides high quality care to patients,” said the Cleverly report.
The 2010 study focused on more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals over a three-year time period (2006-2008). Sarasota Memorial, which was designated a “Five-Star Hospital” for earning scores in the top 20 percent of its peers, was one of only three hospitals in Florida to receive the recognition.
“This prestigious national honor recognizes Sarasota Memorial’s commitment to providing top-quality, cost-efficient care while managing resources wisely and re-investing in our community,” said CEO Gwen MacKenzie.
Cleverly released the findings as part of its new publication: State of the Hospital Industry - 2010 Edition.
