Cardiac Rehabilitation is designed to help those who have experienced a cardiac event return to the highest level of functioning possible through monitored exercise training and lifestyle education. Our team of Exercise Physiologists and Cardiologists work together to help recovering heart patients improve the health of their heart and enhance their quality of life.
Cardiac Rehab has two primary components:
Individualized Monitored Exercise
Exercise programs are customized to individual conditions and needs. Programs consist of aerobic, strength and flexibility exercises. Blood pressure, heart rate and heart rhythms are monitored to ensure our patients’ safety and promote improved outcomes.
Lifestyle Education Classes
In addition to exercise, our cardiac team provides educational presentations each week, keeping participants informed of important strategies to protect heart health. Topics include: Exercise, Hypertension, Heart Anatomy & Physiology, Life after Cardiac Rehab; Medical Management & Emergency Planning; Stress Management; Nutrition and Cholesterol
Participation in cardiac rehabilitation has been shown to:
- Improve physical, mental and social functioning
- Stablilize, slow or reverse the progression of cardiac disease
- Reduce depression and anxiety
- Increase confidence level
- Increase strength of the heart and peripheral muscles
- Increase knowledge of cardiac disease, diet and risk factors
- Decrease risk of heart failure
- Decrease mortality at up to 5 years post participation
- Improve quality of life

How to Get Started:
Please obtain a referral from your doctor. Once we receive the referral, we will contact you to set up an evaluation. During the evaluation we will explain the rehabilitation program in detail, assess your heart condition and design an exercise prescription customized to your needs.
