Critical CareIntensive Care Unit

Our highly trained physicians, nurses, therapists and other health care professionals specialize in treating in people recovering from life-threatening medical, surgical or cardiac conditions. Sarasota Memorial’s multidisciplinary team works 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure the best outcomes for patients, and support for families and loved ones.

Families and Visitors
Having a loved one in the hospital, especially in a critical care setting, can be a stressful experience. The healing process includes the love and support from the important people in each patient’s life. That’s why our visiting hours are flexible and based on the needs of patients and families. In general, visiting hours are:

  • 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.
  • 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • 8:30 p.m. to 12 midnight

We request no visitors or phone calls to the unit during shift changes (6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. to 8:30 pm), when the clinical team is sharing important assessments and reports.

Patient Safety
For the health and security of our patients, all Critical Care Units at Sarasota Memorial remain locked 24/7. To provide the best patient care, we follow these guidelines on the unit:

  • No live plants or flowers are permitted.
  • Visitors must wash hands upon entering and leaving. Hand-washing foam canisters are mounted outside each unit and patient room.
  • Only two visitors at a time are permitted in each patient room.
