Although one physician typically manages a patient’s breast cancer care, treatment plans often result from a coordinated effort between several specialists. At Sarasota Memorial, every patient diagnosed with breast cancer receives the concentrated attention of a team of doctors who specialize in breast and cancer care
Breast cancer experts from various fields – breast cancer and reconstruction surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, radiation and medical oncologists and other specialists – meet as a team to review new cases or revisit challenging ones. They analyze test results, discuss different treatment options, share insights from recent research studies... and most importantly, reach consensus on the best approach to treat each specific kind of cancer.
After each breast cancer conference, primary physicians meet individually with their patients to review the information discussed and recommended treatment options. You can count on our Breast Health Navigators to help answer any questions you have about your situation and guide you through your tests and treatment.
