Volunteer at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System
Discover the Possibilities! Discover the Rewards!
By volunteering at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, you can make a difference in our community.
Our volunteers are special people. Volunteers provide comfort and assistance to patients, their families, visitors and our staff. Every day, they share their time, talents, energy and hearts. They believe in helping others. They believe in our mission. And they believe in making a difference.
As a volunteer, you'll meet new people, and learn new skills. More than 80 volunteer services support the hospital. No matter what your skills or special talents, or if you'd like to learn something new, there is a volunteer opportunity to suit your interests.
Also, as a volunteer, you'll receive annual orientation to the Auxiliary and hospital, on-the-job training, free annual health screenings, discounted vaccinations and a free flu shot. Cafeteria meals are provided at no cost and access to the medical and Patient/Employee libraries are available to you as well. Volunteers are eligible to join a credit union and receive other special benefits.
How Much Time Can I Volunteer?
When you begin volunteering, assignments initially are available once a week on a four-hour shift. As you become more familiar with Sarasota Memorial, your responsibilities can increase, if you wish, with additional hours and/or service areas.
Opportunities Available . . .
Volunteer opportunities are available in patient care areas and non-clinical departments throughout the hospital. Volunteers also work closely with community health care organizations and play an important part to enhance the hospital's continuum of care in areas such as the Open Heart Surgery Pillow Program and sewers and knitters of baby items.
You are cordially invited to discover the possibilities and the rewards of volunteering at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System. For more information, stop by the Auxiliary Center on the first floor of Sarasota Memorial near the Waldemere Auditorium or contact Nina-Graber@smh.com.
