Robotic Surgery
Bradenton Man First in Florida to Undergo Robotically Assisted Surgery with da
Vinci-S Robot
As a software engineer
who has programmed computers since the age of 15, Thomas Miles understands
the capabilities of new technology more than most. So it was without
hesitation that he became the first man in Florida to
undergo prostate surgery with the new da Vinci-S robot at Sarasota Memorial.
Robotically assisted minimally invasive procedures result in shorter
hospital stays and faster recoveries, less pain and scarring. Learn more
about Sarasota Memorial's

Quick, Convenient, High Quality
Care
With our expanded
ER and new urgent care walk-in center,
Sarasota Memorial doctors have your summer mishaps covered!

The kids are out of school, adults are on vacation and there's more time for
outdoor activities like swimming in the Gulf, sunbathing, and backyard
barbecues. But the very things that make summer so relaxing also make it a
prime time of year for certain - and sometimes - life-threatening injuries.
Learn more about precautions you can take to help protect yourself and
your family from three increased health risks of summer: drownings, heat exhaustion/dehydration
and stingray
injuries.
For urgent - but not emergency care - visit the
Sarasota Memorial Walk-In Medical Center, 2401 University Parkway, Sarasota.
No appointments necessary. Most insurances accepted.

Is Bariatric
Surgery Right For You?
The decision
to have gastric bypass surgery is a life-changing decision.
For many, it is
also a life-saving decision.
Nearly two-thirds of adults
in the United States are overweight, and about 30% are obese increasing
their risk for diabetes, heart
disease, stroke, hypertension, gall bladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep
apnea and some forms of cancer. The
Comprehensive Bariatric Program
at Sarasota Memorial provides the most effective
treatment and prevention currently available for morbid obesity and
associated
diseases. Treatments include a comprehensive weight loss program, support
group, diabetes management and surgery,
including the laparoscopic and open Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. FREE monthly
informational presentations are held at the Sarasota Memorial Care Center at
Blackburn Point on the 2nd Thursday
of each month. Call (941) 917-7777 today or check our
Community Health Calendar for more information. |

Assessing
Your Family’s Genetic Risk
Sarasota Memorial Institute for Cancer
Care
Though
only 5-10 percent of cancers are hereditary, it is important to identify
people with inherited susceptibility to cancer. In many cases, they can take
steps to reduce their risk or prevent cancer from occurring. Sarasota
Memorial offers the only genetic cancer screening program in Sarasota
County. The program provides people with the most current research about
hereditary breast, ovarian and colon cancer and guidelines for screening and
treatment. Physician referrals are not required.
For information, call (941) 917-2005. |
