National Patient Safety Awareness Week
Patient Safety
Simulation Lab
In recognition of National Patient Safety Week (March 5–11), Sarasota
Memorial is unveiling its new Patient Safety Simulation Lab to facilitate the most
advanced training technology in the nation. The Lab is home to “Stan” – or
standard man, a computerized, full-sized mannequin that provides hands-on
experience for simulated, realistic medical scenarios, from bioterrorism to
adverse drug reactions. The ultrasophisticated and highly versatile
human patient simulator blinks, speaks and breathes, has a heartbeat and a
pulse, and accurately mirrors human responses to such procedures.
